You add pigments to the mixing base and stir until the color runs even. More pigment gives a deeper, bolder result. Less keeps it soft and sheer, and adding base pulls any blend toward a pastel.

Once you land on a blend you like, name it and save it to your account so you can order the same one again.

The color is semi-permanent and deposit-only, so it coats the hair instead of stripping it. There is no bleach in the product, and the base is a conditioning cream that keeps hair soft while the color develops.

As it wears off, it fades gradually rather than leaving a hard line to grow out.

Because the color is deposit-only, how well it shows depends on how light your hair already is. Pastels and bright shades need a lightened base to read true, so lighten first if that is the look you are after. Deeper shades show up on darker hair without lightening.

On lightened hair, plan for roughly four to six weeks. Deeper shades tend to hold longer. Rinsing with cool water and washing with a sulfate-free shampoo will stretch the color further between mixes.
